Community

Our founder, Michael Filip, is a Port Perry resident and avid community supporter.  Since beginning in 1998 in the Computer Science Co-Op program at the University of Waterloo, his career grew from tech support, to website developer, senior programmer, and on to managing a large corporate programming team for a Fortune 500 company.

Michael started Scugog Computers to fill a local need for convenient, quality phone and computer repair service and to use his expertise to help the local community.

He is currently Vice President of Scugog Arts, a volunteer member on township advisory committees, and is involved with the Scugog Kayak Club and 100 Men of Scugog.  He is Past President of the Scugog Chamber of Commerce where he served for 10 years on the Board of Directors.

Scugog Computers is happy to be able to sponsor the following organizations and events:

  • 100 Men of Scugog – quarterly charitable donations
  • G-Moms of Port Perry
  • Northumberland County Riders
  • Port Perry Walk for Dog Guides
  • Scugog Beer & Cider Festival
  • Scugog Kayak Club
  • Scugog Santa Claus Parade

When you visit the store you will find abundant information on our local community; including upcoming events, business specials, items of interest, theatre productions, art work, a museum of old devices, and even a piano from which you may hear some Chopin, Hans Zimmer, or Queen.
